The Queen City Crush battled the Springfield Cobras on Wednesday, July 21st for a single elimination position in the Show Me Collegiate League playoffs. The Crush offense came out first with Shane Poe's triple to center field. Lane Crowden was walked and Davis Blair hit a sac fly to bring Poe home.
In the top of the third, Colson Sledge singled and was able to advance to third on an error. Shane Poe grounded out, but not before bringing Sledge home and record another run before the end of the inning.
The Crush came back to get another run in the top of the fifth with Tyler Weiner's single. Weiner stole second and came home on Sledge's double.
Levi Loughridge took the mound first and pitched 5 innings. Although Loughridge allowed 6 hits, he only allowed 1 run and was able to strike out 7 cobras.
In the top of the sixth, Crowden and Blair got on base with a walk. Trent Turner singled to load bases for Jacob Stoker. Stoker hit a sac fly to bring in Crowden. Turner stole second before Weiner reached on a fielder's choice. Turner came home on a wild pitch to record another run before the end of the inning.
Landon Shigeta came to relieve Loughridge. Shigeta closed the game and allowed no runs on 2 hits.
