Crush Beat Wild 12-3

The Queen City Crush played the Ozark Wild again July 7th for the second game of the series.

Truett Gardner (Marshfield, MO) starts the game on the mound for the Crush and retires the Wild side in four batters. Isaac Miller (Madison, WV) starts the bottom of the first with a leadoff walk. Another walk drawn by Alec Boldt (North Liberty, IA) put two runners on bringing Nathan Weatherly (Kiln, MS) to the plate. Boldt and Miller steal their way over to second and third base and a drop third strike scores Miller and puts Weatherly on. Weatherly adds another stolen base putting runners on second and third. Brock Wendlandt (Buffalo, MO) and Gabe Falcone (Sellersburg, IN) follow with back-to-back walks scoring Boldt. Another pair of back-to-back walks from Jayden Tarbet (Springfield, MO) and Ryan Shoulders (Collinsville, OK) to score Weatherly and Wendlandt for a 4-0 Crush lead. A quick third out moves into the second inning.

Gardner goes three-up, three-down on the Wild keeping them off the board moving into the bottom half. Tanner Lumley (Fair Grove, MO) led off the second with a drawn walk. Boldt and Weatherly followed with drawing another two walks. Rhett Hill (Fair Grove, MO) reaches on a fielder's choice and Miller scored on the same play. After a grounder moved runners over, a walk from Falcone loads the bases. Weatherly went home after a back-to-back walk from Tarbet. Shoulders hit a two-RBI single scoring Hill and Falcone. The Crush ended the second with an 8-0 lead.

Gardner’s second three-up, three-down inning prevented any Wild runs in the top of the third putting Crush back at the plate. After a leadoff single from Lumley in the bottom half, Weatherly follows with a single of his own to score Lumley for the ninth Crush run. Hill scores Weatherly after a double to left field. Three back-to-back walks from Falcone, Tarbet, and Shoulders score Hill ending the third inning with Crush ahead 11-0.

Gardner does it again and went three-up, three-down in the top of the fourth to keep the Wild quiet. A quiet fourth for the offense put the Crush back in the field for the fifth inning. Hill came in for relief and kept the defense on fire by retiring the Wild side in three strikeouts. Falcone hit a double to left field but was left on base to end the bottom half of the fifth. Hill held the Wild at three scored runs to keep the Crush lead 11-3 going into the bottom of the sixth. Shoulders started the bottom of the sixth offense with a single to right field. Miller reached on a fielders choice and was brought home by a run-rule walk-off triple from Lumley. The Crush took down the Wild 12-3.

The Crush will play again Saturday, July 9th in Jefferson City against the Jeff City Renegades.
